Last Call for Thuthuka!

On September 2nd 2025 the final call opens for South African – Dutch coproductions to apply for a development grant under the Thuthuka program.

Thuthuka is an initiative of the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and the Netherlands Film Fund (NFF) to promote cooperation between South Africa and the Netherlands.

Who can apply?

Under this joint scheme, producers with a feature film, long documentary or animated film can submit an application for a contribution for writing a script and a pitch book. The film must be made in co-production and must be intended for cinema release.

Contribution

The contribution is €40,000 (all in). Additionally, the teams of the selected projects participate in workshops and are given opportunities to expand their networks.

This development contribution will be granted to no more than 4 projects per year, two majority Dutch film productions and two majority South African film productions.

Teams that have successfully completed the Thuthuka development phase, may later be eligible for a production grant under the Thuthuka program.

Deadline

The submission deadline is Tuesday October 7, 2025, 17:00 CET.
