
Call for new round of New Dawn
The international film production fund New Dawn strives for a vibrant, open and inclusive film industry with true diversity of perspectives, filmic expressions and relevance for everyone.
Intended specifically to amplify underrepresented voices, New Dawn operates as a production fund, by making additional funding available for film productions and by supporting film makers in setting up networks.
Applications can be submitted by an independent production company that is based in one of the participating countries: Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium (Flanders, Wallonia), Portugal or Luxembourg. Applicants can receive up to € 200,000 for a(n animated) feature film and up to € 100,000 for a feature-lenght documentary.

New Dawn is an initiative of public film funds aiming to open up the film industry to the many voices and perspectives in our continuously changing society. As public funds, we have a responsibility to support talented film makers without prejudice or exclusion and to give ample opportunity for multifaceted, original and authentic film to flourish.
Previous films supported by New Dawn include My Favourite Cake by Maryam Moghaddam and Behtash Sanaeeha (nominated for a Golden Bear at Berlinale 2024, winner of the Eurimages Award in 2022), Omen by Baloji (winner New Voice Prize Un Certain Regard Cannes 2023), Marching in the Dark by Kinshuk Surjan (Special Mention Human Rights Award Competition at CPH:DOX 2024), Julie Keeps Quiet by Leonardo Van Dijl (Prix SACD during Semaine de la Critique 2024) and Têtes Brûlées by Maja Ajmia Yde Zellama (Special Mention Generation 14+ at Berlinale 2025).
