Film Fund welcomes four new consultants

Our team of consultants welcomes four new colleagues per 1 September 2020. Robil Rahantoeknam, Rogier de Blok, Urias Boerleider and Sherin Seyda each made their ways quite differently to the Dutch film industry, adding their own experience, background and discipline to the current team.

Filmconsultants are responsible for the qualitative assessment of selective funding applications for film development and production. They are appointed for a limited term and work closely together with the Funds subsidy desk, responsible for the financial and productional assessment of applications.

Robil Rahantoeknam (1981) previously worked as a production sound mixer for feature films such as Suriname (2019), De Belofte van Pisa (2018) and My Foolish Heart (2019), which won a Golden Calf Award for Best Sound Design in 2016. In the meanwhile, he worked on tv series Mocra Maffia 2, Van God Los and Vechtershart and was part of the post-production sound team for films like Tula: The Revolt (2013) and Winterstilte (2013), for which he won his first Golden Calf for Best Sound Design in 2008, together with Huibert Boon and Alex Booy.

As a writer, director and producer, Sherin Seyda (1986) worked on projects such as short films Riders (2020), Meeting Point (2018) and Gens du Sud (2017). On top of that, she’s a moderator, presenter and programmer for i.a. De Balie, International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, International Film Festival Rotterdam and Human Rights Film Festival. Sherin was born in Berlin and will this year finish her Masters in Audiovisual Arts at the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels.

Experienced scriptwriter, script- coach and teacher Rogier de Blok (1976) has worked on several feature films that got selected for festivals like the Cannes Film Festival, the Berlinale and Toronto International Film Festival and won many (inter)national prizes like Golden Calves and an EMMY Award. Rogier also has a Masters degree in Business Administration and frequently gives guest lectures at de Schrijversvakschool, Netherlands Film Academy and the University of Amsterdam.

Theater director and drama teacher Urias Boerleider (1971) studied at the Institute of Performative Arts in Maastricht. Urias is an actor for theater, film and television and has worked as a role-play actor and communication trainer for businesses and institutions since 2002. As a director, Urias is involved in a diverse range of theater- and filmprojects. He teaches Stage Performance lessons at the jazz department of the Conservatorium Maastricht and is a sparring partner for multiple (theater)makers.

Robil, Sherin, Rogier and Urias will join current Film Fund consultants Suzanne van Voorst, Signe Zeilich-Jensen, Nathalie Alonso Casale, Dick Tuinder, Erik van Drunen and Iwana Chronis.
