Three teams receive Fund support to develop international film plans

The Netherlands Film Fund International Talent program will fund three teams (consisting of screenwriter, director and producer) each to develop a new feature film project. The total available contribution per team is €70,000 max. In addition to the development funding, the teams will receive support from leading international industry experts.

The projects are:

Title: CARGO: ORANGE

Logline: A visually outrageous story about a highly intelligent truck driver (Xavier) who meets a young girl (Beaubelle) who is seeking answers to her own answers. They fall deeply in love, unaware that fate has thrown them together before…
Title: Syrup (Stroop)

Producer: OAK Motion Pictures
Logline: A stubborn Dutch car dealer discovers that two boys heading to Iraq to join the jihad have stolen two of his rental cars. Together with the father of one of the thieves he embarks on a moral crusade through war-torn Iraq where he finds unlikely friendship, a new outlook on life and finally, his cars.
Title: Invite Me to War

Logline: Three young soldiers are as overwhelmed by Afghan culture as the many difficulties their military mission has to deal with. Eventually, the alienation and constant tension take their toll. One of them loses grip on reality - but none of his comrades are able to save him…
The three projects were selected from nine submissions pitched to an international committee consisting of Hengameh Panahi (CEO of Celluloid Dreams, Paris), Karel Och (artistic director of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Czech Republic) and Mike Goodridge (CEO of Protagonist Pictures, London) who will now guide and support each successful team towards project realization.
The next application submission date for this program will be announced at the end of November 2015.
