Quo Vadis, Aida? and Another Round nominated for BAFTA Film Awards 2021

Two minority co-productions have been nominated for the UK prestigious BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards.

Quo Vadis, Aida?, written and directed by Jasmila Žbanić, produced by Deblokada (BA), in co-production with N270 Entertainment (NL), Coop99 (AT) and Indie Production (FR), starring Dutch actors Raymond Thiry, Reinout Bussemaker and Juda Goslinga is nominated for Best Director and Best Film Not in the English Language. Quo Vadis, Aida? had its world premiere at the 77th Venice International Film Festival in 2020 and has won numerous prizes at festivals like the Göteborg Film Festival, Les Arc European Film Festival and was nominated for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival 2020.

Nominated for Best Director, Best Film Not in the English Language and Original Screenplay is Another Round, directed by Thomas Vinterberg, written by Thomas Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm, produced by Film I Väst (SE) in co-production with Zentropa Sweden (SE) and Topkapi Films (NL). Mads Mikkelsen is nominated for Best Leading Actor for his performance as a high-school teacher. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and previously won Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenwriter and Best Actor at the European Film Awards in December 2020.

Both films are supported by the Netherlands Film Fund and the Netherlands Film Production Incentive.

The BAFTA’s are considered to be amongst the most important film awards in Europe. The EE BAFTAs take place the weekend of 10 and 11 April 2021 and will be broadcast on the BBC.
