Netherlands Film Production Incentive invests € 4.4 million in 17 new productions

In the first round of 2018, 17 film projects have been backed with a total of over € 4.4 million in cash rebates through the Netherlands Film Production Incentive Scheme. These projects will generate over € 18.8 million in production expenditure within the Netherlands. The contributions are granted to 13 feature films, 3 documentaries and 1 animated feature film, including 11 international co-productions.

Productions receiving a cash rebate include a.o. the Dutch Telescoop project The East, directed by Jim Taihuttu and produced by New Amsterdam Film Company in co-production with Wrong Men (BE). Also the Dutch-Chinese co-production Dead & Beautiful, the latest film by David Verbeek, has been granted cash rebate. Dutch producer is Lemming Film, Chinese co-producers are Xstream and Power and Light. A contribution was also granted to the animation film Where is Anne Frank by Ari Folman. The film is produced by Purple Whale Films (BE), in co-production with Submarine Animation (NL), Walking the Dog (BE), Samsa Films (LU) and Bridgit Folman Film Gang (IL).

The submission deadline of the first upcoming application round for film productions for the Netherlands Film Production Incentive scheme in 2018 is 11 April. The Netherlands Film Production Incentive offers cash rebate on the qualifying Dutch production costs spent in the Netherlands.
