Netherlands Film Fund appoints Roeland Oude Nijhuis as new film commissioner
The Netherlands Film Commission, with the introduction of the Film Production Incentive, began in 2014 to position the Netherlands internationally as a location and partner for the (post-)production of films and media productions.
Roeland Oude Nijhuis (1978) is an experienced producer and entrepreneur in the creative industry with a strong international outlook. After studying film and television sciences, he became a partner at production company HALAL. In the years that followed, HALAL grew into a renowned production company that operates at the intersection of film, photography, advertising, entertainment and pop culture. As Managing Director of HALAL, Roeland was responsible for the development and implementation of the creative vision with a strong focus on cultural impact and innovation.
As a producer, Roeland has always had an international view, which has led to progressive work in the field of documentary, feature film, photography and commercials. He made his feature film debut with Sam de Jong's Prins in 2015. The film won three Golden Calves. Other projects that Roeland has produced include All We Ever Wanted (2010), Un Creux dans mon Coeur (2015), Necktie Youth (2015), Genderbende (2017), The Last Ride of the Wolves (2022) and The Sound of Philadelphia (2021).
Roeland will start on April 1, 2024. In the following months Roeland will be working alongside current Netherlands film commissioner Bas van der Ree, who will reach his state pension age later this year and will then hand over his tasks to Roeland.
