My extraordinary summer with Tess and The Shocker supported in development by Netherlands Film Fund and MDM
Dutch/German project My extraordinary summer with Tess receives € 20.000 for a script development. The screenplay is by Laura van Dijk and the co-writer is Steven Wouterlood who will also be directing. The Dutch producer is Bind Film, with German Ostlicht Filmproduction acting as co-producer. The film is aimed at children aged 9-12 years.
Engelstalige logline: Sam (10) and his family head off to the island of Terschelling on holiday, but his brother breaks his leg on their first day there. Bad luck for his brother, but the accident lets Sam meet Tess, a peculiar girl who has an ingenious plan for getting to know her birth father. She's got just one week to make his acquaintance, and she decides that Sam should help her. Although Sam is forcing himself to practice being alone to protect himself from future grief, he discovers during his adventures with Tess how important family really is.
German/Dutch project The Shocker receives € 10.000 for treatment development. The screenplay is by Jan Galli and Florian Schnell. Florian Schnell will also be directing. The German producer is Kinderfilm GmhB, and the Dutch co-producer Dutch Mountain Film. The film is aimed at children aged 9-12 years.
Logline: The shy boy NILS is troubled by the mean bully VEIT. To fight him off, NILS wants to learn the art of scaring from his eccentric uncle SASCHA. In SASCHA’s Horror Show, NILS meets the Vampire Girl SINA and finally realizes that scaring off others does not compensate overcoming your own fears.
The Dutch/German co-development fund was launched at Berlinale in February 2015 to develop and co-produce high-quality films for the children of both countries and beyond. It was enhanced by the signing of a co-production treaty between the Netherland and Germany that promotes ongoing co-operation and co-production between the territories.
