It's Nice in Here on Oscars Shortlist 2023

It's Nice In Here*, the debut of Robert-Jonathan Koeyers, world premiered at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, followed by a successful festival run that included selections for Interfilm Berlin, Espinho International Animation Film Festival and Anima Brussels Animation Film Festival, among others. European television and streaming platform ARTE acquired the short for its platform.

"This truly feels like a huge step for such a small film, and we are so happy to have been able to make it this far. We cannot wait for this story to reach more people, and hopefully our inclusion on this year's Short List will make that easier. At moments like these, it really does feel like it's nice in here." - Robert-Jonathan Koeyers

Richard Valk of Valk Productions previously worked with internationally acclaimed Dutch animated filmmakers such as Adriaan Lokman (Chase*, Flow*) and Rosto (No Place like Home, Monster of Nix).

It's Nice In Here is a fragmentic portrait of a person, a moment and a place, seen through the subjective memories of a young girl, Imani, and police officer, David. Both have different experiences of a fateful moment at a convenience store, which changes their lives for ever.

Nominations voting runs from January 12 to 17 and nominations will be announced by the Academy on January 24th. The 95th Academy Awards will take place on March 12th, 2023.

It's Nice in Here is produced by Valk Productions. World sales are handled by SND Films and festival distribution is handled by Kapitein Kort. Visit the official It's Nice in Here website here.
