Film Fund visiting the Caribbean Islands

From November 7 to 20, the national cultural funds visited Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St. Eustatius, and St. Maarten.

During the visit, an inspiring networking program was organized on each island, where Monique Ruinen, Head of Film Activities and Talent Development, engaged with filmmakers, film professionals, and cultural sector organizations:

'We believe it’s important to showcase films featuring stories from filmmakers across the entire Kingdom. Over the past few years, we’ve strengthened our ties with the islands, which has already led to initiatives such as the development program for short films, Studio Caribe. This trip was a valuable next step: it gave us deeper insight into the film landscape on each island and allowed us to identify opportunities and possibilities. This was particularly thanks to the many inspiring meetings and conversations we had with talented, passionate filmmakers, dedicated organizations, and film enthusiasts.'

The new website rijkscultuurfondsen.org was introduced also: a grant application guide designed for filmmakers and other creators on the islands. Many of the national cultural funds’ schemes are also accessible to creators and organizations from the islands, with some even specifically developed for them. However, regular exchanges of knowledge and information with island residents in recent years have made the funds aware that it is not always easy to find the right scheme for the right project from the ABCSSS Islands. More information about this application guide will follow soon.
