Dutch debut feature Al Baraneya selected for Venice Giornate degli Autori

Al Baraneya follows pregnant Amal and her family’s chaotic yet loving way of life in the village of Al Baraneya. Their close-knit community begins to waver when they are offered to sell their land. Doubts creep into the family, not least for Amal, for whom the prospect of city life starts to seem tempting.

The first feature by Ashgan El-Hamus is produced BALDR Film in co-production with CZAR Film & TV (Belgium), SEE Media (Egypt) and Red Sea Fund (Saudi Arabia). The film is supported by the Netherlands Film Fund, CoBO, Belgian Tax Shelter / BNP Paribas Fortis Film Finance, the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme of the European Union, and the Red Sea Fund.
