Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg launch BENELUX Co-Development Grant
A co-development grant could further consolidate the position of the BENELUX film industry as a co-production territory within the European landscape and could lead to stronger, cross-border film productions. Through the scheme BENELUX producers are stimulated to explore the best and most natural co-production structure for the film and the corresponding financing strategy. During previous sessions organised by Benelux partners, producers already expressed their wish to stimulate more space for co-development. Filmmakers of feature films (live action fiction and animation) can apply for a grant of €50.000 per project.
Benelux Collaboration
Last year the BENELUX public funds and promotional partners joined forces to work more closely together, creating a strong unity and joint growth where individual success of talented filmmakers can flourish even more. Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia-Brussels), the Netherlands and Luxembourg represent a strong region with a high-quality film infrastructure. Also, the countries are connected by shared cultural narratives which reflect the rich diversity of the BENELUX region.
The BENELUX partners aim to:
- Broadening networks and strengthening cross-border collaboration between creative talent and facilities.
- Multi-country branding on international festival and markets will amplify visibility and enhance attraction of film productions and filmmakers from the Benelux.
- Easier access to mutual co-productions (Filmmakers can tap into a broader network of directors, writers, actors, and crew from all three countries.)
- A connected pool of resources (financial, talent, knowledge)
- Finance systems which can complement each other.
Starting in 2026, it will be possible to submit an application for the BENELUX Co-Development scheme. Keep an eye on the fund websites for more information and make sure to subscribe to the newsletters.
