9 new projects backed by the Netherlands Film Production Incentive   

In the fourth round of 2016 Netherlands Film Production Incentive activity, 9 film projects have been granted a total of over 2.3 million euro in cash rebates. These projects will generate over 10.5 million euro in production expenditure within the Netherlands. The contributions are granted to 7 feature films, 1 animated feature film and 1 documentary. This round, Heinz, the first feature animation of this year was granted incentive, as well as documentary maker Michiel van Erp’s first feature film, The Empty City.

This year 63 projects have received an incentive of more than 15.4 million euro in total. For the first time since the Incentive’s launch the maximum amount of 1 million euro cash rebate was granted to an international production: Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. This summer 25 (inter)national film productions, all supported by the Netherlands Film Fund, went into production. Of these, 15 film productions were shot in the Netherlands, including Gangsterdam by French director Romain Lévy and The Hitman’s Bodyguard, featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Ryan Reynolds and Dutch actors Barry Atsma and Noortje Herlaar.

Application rounds
There will be four application rounds in 2017, with submission deadlines of 7 February, 9 May, 29 August en 31 October. The Netherlands Film Production Incentive offers a financial contribution in the form of a 30% cash rebate on the qualifying Dutch production costs.
