23 new projects backed by the Netherlands Film Production Incentive

A Summer full of Dutch film production activity
In the second round of 2016 Netherlands Film Production Incentive activity, 23 film projects have been granted a total of over 5.8 million euro in cash rebates. These projects will generate over 27 million euro in production expenditure within the Netherlands. The contributions are granted to 19 feature films and 4 documentaries, and include 14 international co-productions with countries such as France, Great Britain, Denmark, Ireland, Colombia, Luxembourg and Belgium. For the first time since the Incentive’s launch in 2014 the maximum amount of 1 million euro cash rebate was granted to an international production: Christopher Nolan’s Bodega Bay (in the media also known as Dunkirk).

This summer 25 (inter)national film productions, all supported by the Netherlands Film Fund, will go into production. Of these, 15 film productions will be shot in the Netherlands. These include Gangsterdam by French director Romain Lévy, The Hitman’s Bodyguard with Ryan Reynolds and Dutch actors Barry Atsma and Noortje Herlaar, Cobain by director Nanouk Leopold and scriptwriter Stienette Bosklopper, and Christopher Nolan’s Bodega Bay with Dutch actor Jochum ten Haaf.
