Iwana Chronis
Since 2021, Iwana Chronis (1977) is heading the Selective Funding department at the Netherlands Film Fund, where she was working as a film consultant as of 2019. Iwana has been involved in the founding of the International Coalition for Filmmakers at Risk, an initiative of IDFA, IFFR and the European Film Academy, which was launched in 2020. At IDFA, she curated the 2018 and 2019 IDFA Industry Talks, during which she also worked as a consultant at Movies that Matter.
From 2009-2017, Iwana headed IFFR’s Hubert Bals Fund, which supports extraordinary film talent from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. During this period, she initiated and coordinated amongst others the HBF+Europe coproduction scheme, human rights programme Brave Cinema and the Boost! talent development trajectory.
From 2005-2008, Iwana coordinated the Cultural Emergency Response (CER) programme of the Prince Claus Fund, for endangered international cultural heritage. Iwana holds an MA in Theatre, Film and Television Studies at Utrecht University and an MA in Social Theory at the University of Melbourne. She is an alumnus of EAVE’s Ties that Bind and the Leadership in Culture programme of Utrecht University.
