Emergency fund for filmmakers in response to war in Ukraine
The support applies to Ukrainian filmmakers who are in dire straits, as well as independent, critical filmmakers from Russia and Belarus who are speaking out against the war. ICFR calls on film professionals and organizations to support the fund and put affected filmmakers in touch with the fund to help colleagues in these bleak times. Filmmakers can contact the emergency fund directly at [email protected]. ICFR was previously founded by the European Film Academy, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The coalition is committed to helping filmmakers at risk as a consequence of war and conflict.
Solidarity declaration
Today, in a letter to the Dutch House of Representatives, the Cabinet announced that the Dutch cultural and creative sector is asked to continue supporting independent, critical organizations and individual thinkers and artists. At the same time, the Cabinet requests that all formal and institutional collaborations with the government in the Russian Federation and Belarus, as well as cultural institutions affiliated with these governments, be suspended. This is in line with the solidarity declaration of European ministers on cultural cooperation. As the Film Fund, we join this effort and continue to support independent critical organizations and filmmakers in Russia and Belarus, in cooperation with international partners. Collaborations with filmmakers and producers affiliated with the government in Russia and Belarus fall outside of this context.
