Pleasure and Seeds of Deceit selected for Sundance 2021

No less than three (co)productions from the Netherlands have been selected for Sundance 2021. Documentary series Seeds of Deceit , feature Pleasure by Ninja Thyberg and short film Five Tiger by Nomawonga Khumalo, will screen in various sections of the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.

Miriam Guttmann's three-part documentary series Seeds of Deceit* will celebrate its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Seeds of Deceit is produced by De Familie Film & TV in co-production with Dutch broadcaster VPRO. The revealing series tells the story of the late Dr. Karbaat, a Dutch fertility doctor, who clandestinely used his own semen to inseminate over 65 of his patients.

Minority Dutch co-production Pleasure* was selected for Cannes International Film Festival - Cannes 2020 label. Pleasure by (Plattform Produktion, Sweden) is co-produced by Lemming Film (sales: Versatile). The debut feature is a journey into the American porn industry and follows 20-year-old Bella from Sweden, who arrives in Los Angeles with the dream of becoming the next big porn star. The film is raw but offers both a human and humorous portrayal of a male-dominated world seen from a female perspective.

Five Tiger, the short film debut of South African writer/director Nomawonga Khumalo, is produced by TMPC (SA) Nostalgia Productions (SA) and co-produced by Revolver Amsterdam(NL). Set in present day South Africa, Five Tiger tells the story of Fiona, a god-fearing woman, who finds herself in a transactional relationship with the leader of her church as she tries to support her sick husband and daughter.
