Dutch coproduction Quo Vadis, Aida? selected for Venice Film Festival

Today the line up of the Venice Film Festival was reveiled. The minority coproduction Quo Vadis, Aida? of Jasmila Zbanic was selected for the main competition. Another Dutch coproduction was selected for Venice Days: Oasis by Ivan Ikic.

Logline: English teacher Aida is in a UN base with her two grown up sons and husband. They are looking for shelter after the Serbian Army occupies Srebrenica. She is working as a UN translator, believing that she is safe with the UN. However, when the system of protection starts to fall apart, she has to rescue her family.

This film tells the story of Robert, Dragana and Maria. Abandoned by everyone, with no life perspective and condemned to a life time of hiding from society because of their defects, in surroundings with strict rules of conduct and survival, the emotions of three teenagers linger on a thin line between eros and thanatos, threatening to, at any moment, end in tragedy.

Venice Film Week
Furthermore it was announced that Your Beautiful Rubber Brain by Jelmer Wristers was selected for the Venice Film Week. The Venice Film Week is an annual week-long event showcasing independent films with an edge.
