Les Arcs Work in Progress gets a new look and launches its call for 2019

December 14 - 18, 2019

LES ARCS INDUSTRY VILLAGE is Les Arcs Film Festival’s professional event dedicated to the independent European film industry.

It aims to increase the exposure of promising projects from all over Europe, to create a place for networking and support new partnerships. Each year, 550 professionals (producers, sales agents, distributors, financiers, fund representatives, etc.) are attending the festival’s industry events.

Among the industry sections, Les Arcs Work in Progress gathers a selection of projects in post-production seeking for sales agents, distributors and coproducers. Each project showcases from 5 to 8 minutes excerpts (3-4 scenes) to the professionals attending the festival followed by a Q&A moderated by Frédéric Boyer.

For its 9th edition Les Arcs Work in Progress section freshens up by enlarging the selection of films screened and showing the very first images of films looking for their festival premieres. The whole event and its agenda are reshaped. The traditional Sunday morning screening will turn into a one day event to be held on Monday.

Also, additionally to the Eurimages Lab Project Award and the Titrafilm Award, the Work in Progress section 2019 is also endowed for the 1st time with the Alphapanda Audience Engagement Award which aims at developing the awarded film’s digital campaign on social medias. (described below)

The producers with selected projects benefit from one-to-one meetings, conferences and networking events.

Last year, Les Arcs Work in Progress showcased System Crasher by Nora Fingscheidt grabbed by Beta Cinema – silver Berlin bear winner and Oscar 2020 entry for Germany –  and And then we danced by Levan Akin which premiered at Director’s Fortnight 2019 and is sold worldwide by Totem films, both films being festival hits since.

The 2019 screening will take place in Les Arcs ski resort at an altitude of 2.000 meters above the sea on Monday, December, 16.

Some of the 14 Work in Progress will be eligible to the Eurimages Lab Project Award of 50.000 euros in cash. This award is dedicated to innovative projects in terms of content and productions.

While applying, you will have to explain how your project fits the award's criteria.

Will be eligible for The TitraFilm Award, worth 10.000 euros in image/sound post-production services for a Work in Progress, the non-eligible projects for the Eurimages Award.

For the first time this year Les Arcs Industry Village has the pleasure to collaborate with Alphapanda to provide an Audience Engagement Award oriented towards digital film marketing. The company will attribute to one project an award of 5.000€ - composed of 600€ of advertising spend and 4.400€ in-kind to develop a digital marketing strategy and implement a social media campaign around the awarded film’s festival premiere.
