Netherlands Film Production Incentive invests € 4.5 million in 18 new productions

In the fourth and last round of 2017, 18 film projects have been granted a total of over € 4.5 million in cash rebates through the Netherlands Film Production Incentive Scheme. These projects will generate over € 17.3 million in production expenditure within the Netherlands. The contributions are granted to 10 feature films and 8 documentaries, including 11 international co-productions, with a.o. Belgium, Germany, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Poland, United Kingdom and South Africa.

The highest cash rebate contribution of € 867,413 in this round was awarded to The Art Forger in co-production with the Dutch NL Film. This film is produced by Art Forger UK, directed by Dan Friedman and is based on the book by Jonathan Lopez.

Feature film The Goldfinch, based on the Pulitzer Prize bestselling novel by Donna Tartt, was granted a cash rebate of € 565.945. Kaap Holland Film is the Dutch co-producer, and the film is directed by John Crowley (Oscar-nominated Brooklyn).

Also Dutch crossover project Marionette, the latest feature film by Elbert van Strien, produced by BosBros has been granted cash rebate. The film was previously granted support by Creative Europe.

Nine projects qualified for a cash rebate of 35%, based on qualifying digital production costs to be spent in the Netherlands.

Application rounds
As of October 1, 2017, the Film Production Incentive has been modified and now also offers cash rebate for high-end TV series. The first upcoming application rounds in 2018 have the following submission deadlines: 5 February for film productions and 12 February for high-end TV series.

The Netherlands Film Production Incentive offers cash rebate on the qualifying Dutch production costs spent in the Netherlands.
