Minority Dutch Co-Pro in Production

Principal photography has begun in Vienna on Oscar-nominated Virgil Widrich’s international feature The Night of a Thousand Hours, an Amour Fou Vienna/Amour Fou Luxembourg production. After Vienna the next shoot will commence in Luxembourg in a few weeks. Dutch co-producers are Hanneke Niens & Hans de Wolf (Ventoux, Nena, Soof, De Tweeling (Twin Sisters) of Amsterdam-based KeyFilm.

The € 6.8 million film is made with the support of the Netherlands Film Fund, Netherlands Film Production Incentive*, Film Fund Luxembourg, Austrian Film Institute, Location Austria, the Vienna Film Fund, Eurimages, BLS, Land Salzburg, Algoa State Fund and ORF Film/Fernsehabkommen

The Night of a Thousand Hours stars Laurence Rupp, Elisabeth Rath, Linde Prelog and Udo Samel. Behind the camera is acclaimed DOP Christian Berger (Oscar-nominated for The White Ribbon, Michael Haneke, 2010). For the last 7 month production designer Christina Schaffer (Girl with a Pearl Earring) worked closely together with numerous digital- and graphic designers of Filmmore Amsterdam on all sets for the shoot. Distributor September Film will release the film in the Benelux Spring 2016.
 
* The Netherlands Film Production Incentive scheme, effective since May 2014, is based on a system of cash rebate. The amount of the grant is determined by the production costs that are both eligible and demonstrably spent on film professionals or film companies based in the Netherlands, multiplied by 30%. The maximum award is 1 million Euro per application. The total available budget for funding in 2015 is capped at 25.3 million Euro, of which 70% for international co-productions.
