3 Dutch Berlinale Generation Winners

In Spotless, when 15 year old Ruby realizes she is having her period, she does not want to ask her mother to buy her period products, because she knows their financial situation does not really allow it. To make sure she does not bother anyone with her problem, she tries to solve it herself. It is produced by IJswater Films and Kapitein Kort handles sales as well as festival distribution.

When 14 year old Shabu wrecks his grandmother’s car on a joyride, his whole family is angry with him. He has a summer to make amends before his grandmother returns from a vacation in Suriname. His mother suggests he should sell popsicles to pay for the damage, but that would hardly get him very far. So he comes up with another solution which will allow him to combine money making with his musical talent and the pleasures of a sultry summer. Will he succeed in making his grandmother proud? Shabu is produced by Tangerine Tree and Resevoir Docs are handling sales.

Minority Dutch co-production Luce and the Rock is a story of two friends who, although they seem to have nothing in common, end up facing their fear of the unknown together. It is co-produced by Studio Pupil, while Miyu Distribution handles sales.
